Tamagawa Wants to be a Cat
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Pour everything into your job and leave absolutely nothing for yourself — that's the entire lifestyle of Chiaki Tamagawa. His one outlet is volunteering at a cat café, where he's basically more comfortable around the cats than he is around people. The café manager keeps telling him to learn how to be spoiled, but that's not really in his vocabulary — until a wealthy customer named Rai Shindou walks in, takes one look at Tamagawa, and casually announces he wants to keep him as a cat. Not in a weird way. Well, okay, maybe a little weird. But it's more like Shindou sees this guy who clearly doesn't know how to let anyone take care of him and decides that's going to change. What follows is this gentle, funny push-and-pull where Tamagawa has no idea how to accept affection and Shindou has zero hesitation about giving it. The whole thing has a really soft, cozy atmosphere — pastel-toned art, jazz-inflected soundtrack, cat café vibes throughout. It's a TV special from Studio Aeonium, adapted from the manga, and it wraps up in a single episode so it's zero commitment. If you liked the comedic sweetness of My Sweet Tyrant or the playful dynamic in Love Stage, this hits a similar note but in a more low-key, slice-of-life package. It's comfort food BL with genuine warmth and a premise that's just absurd enough to work.
