Synopsis

On the surface, Yan Feng looks like any other high schooler — until his life goes sideways when he stumbles into something he really shouldn't have — a world of forbidden artifacts and the shadowy organizations trying to keep them contained. When his younger sister gets caught up in the danger, he doesn't really have a choice. He joins one of these secret groups, and suddenly he's neck-deep in artifact containment missions, fighting people who want to crack open these dark powers for themselves. The hook here is that the power system revolves around these cursed objects, each with its own set of rules and dangers, so every encounter feels like a puzzle wrapped in a fight scene. The CG animation from Shuiniu Dongman is genuinely solid during the action sequences, giving the combat a weight that a lot of ONAs don't bother with. There's also a slow-burn mystery about Yan Feng's own origins that threads through everything, adding layers to what could've been a straightforward action setup. The vibe sits somewhere between the artifact-hunting tension of Darker than Black and the chaotic urban energy of Kekkai Sensen, with a post-apocalyptic edge that keeps things from feeling too familiar. If you liked Tokyo Ravens' blend of modern settings with supernatural organizations, this scratches a similar itch but leans harder into the dark, suspenseful side. Worth picking up if you're in the mood for something moody and action-packed that doesn't spell everything out right away.
