Surviving Romance PV
Oshimeter
Synopsis
One moment she's nowhere, and the next, Chaerin Eun opens her eyes inside a generic high school romance novel. She knows the script — befriend the popular girls, charm the male lead, get the fairytale ending. She's even got the pastel color palette and sparkly shoujo atmosphere to match. Then the zombies show up and everyone starts dying. This PV for Surviving Romance, set to Area Fumatori's track "Jaesaeng (feat. Syepias)," is a short but effective preview of a story that pulls the rug out from under its own premise. One minute it's bright and bubbly isekai romance, the next it's a blood-soaked survival horror set in a school overrun by the undead. What makes it genuinely unsettling is the visual concept carried over from the source web manga — characters Chaerin hasn't bothered to learn the names of appear as featureless black silhouettes. Background characters are literally background. Faceless. And when the outbreak hits, that dehumanizing disconnect becomes the whole point. Stripped of plot armor and stuck in a story that's gone completely off-script, Chaerin has to rely on people she never considered real. Studio Ppuri animated this one, and the tonal whiplash between the warm romance setup and the cold horror payoff lands hard even in a single PV. If you liked the deceptive cheerfulness of School-Live! or the claustrophobic school setting of Corpse Party: Tortured Souls, this sits right in that space. Worth keeping on your radar for 2026.
