Supreme Exorcist
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Sent into the modern world by his Daoist sect to deal with hauntings, Li Wei is a young exorcist with a deceptively simple mission. Sounds straightforward enough — clear out some ghosts, call it a day. But after he handles a couple of haunted houses, things spiral. Turns out, exorcising spirits in a world where ancient mysticism still quietly runs alongside smartphones and skyscrapers puts a target on your back. Thai sorcerers, Japanese Onmyoji, Korean witches, Western exorcists — they all come knocking, and Li Wei has to put each of them in their place. The fun here is watching a Daoist practitioner square off against completely different magical traditions, each with their own tricks and philosophies. It's not just "punch harder" escalation; the matchups actually feel distinct. The tone leans action-packed but keeps things loose with humor threaded through the supernatural showdowns. The urban fantasy setting from studio Qingkong Qian Li gives it a grounded backdrop that makes the mystical clashes hit differently than your typical cultivation story. If you liked the power fantasy escalation of Against the Gods or the martial world-building in Shi Fang Jian Sheng, this scratches a similar itch but swaps ancient sects for a modern cityscape. Fans of Dance of the Sky Empire's blend of action and adventure will find familiar ground too. It's based on a web novel, delivered as an ONA, and worth checking out if you're into Daoist exorcism lore mixed with international magical throwdowns.
