📖 SYNOPSIS
Kumiko Oumae can't shake the bad taste her last concert band experience left behind, but she picks up her euphonium again. Now a first-year at Kitauji High, she stumbles back into the band club — partly because her new friends drag her in, partly because she can't quite let go of the instrument. The problem is, this band is rough. Like, really rough. Then their new advisor shows up and casually asks if they actually want to compete at nationals, and suddenly everyone has to decide how serious they are. On top of that, Kumiko crosses paths with Reina Kousaka, a girl from her old band days, and there's clearly unfinished business between them. This movie is the grand finale to the whole Sound! Euphonium story, animated by Kyoto Animation, so every performance scene looks and sounds gorgeous — you can practically feel the reeds vibrating. What makes it land, though, is how grounded the character drama is. The rivalries, the insecurities about not being good enough, the quiet tension of wanting something you're afraid to admit you want. If you liked the way Your Lie in April tied music to raw emotion, or how March Comes in Like a Lion handles personal growth through competition, this hits a similar nerve. Fans of K-On! will recognize the school club setting, but the tone here is more bittersweet than cozy. Two films to close it all out — bring tissues.
