Yumi Ikoma and Ryou Masaoka are thrust into a clandestine mission of utmost importance: piloting the Fafner combat units, humanity's final defense. The enemy, a remorseless foe capable of reading human minds, necessitates extreme secrecy. Even the pilots themselves are kept in the dark about the full scope of their task.
