Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Desperate to write something that actually matters for his high school newspaper, Takahiko Urino is done with puff pieces — he wants something real. So when a string of small fires in town escalates into full-blown serial arson, he sees his chance. With encouragement from his girlfriend Yuki Osanai, a second-year who seems perfectly content being unremarkable, Urino convinces the newspaper club to let him chase the story. His plan: predict where the arsonist will strike next and unmask them before anyone else. The problem is, obsession has a way of making you forget why you started. His fixation on the case starts fraying his relationships and raising uncomfortable questions about whether he's doing journalism or feeding his own ego. Meanwhile, fellow student Jougorou Kobato just wants a quiet, ordinary school life — but a fire connected to Osanai and a past case pulls him back into the kind of detective work he's been trying to leave behind. This TV series from Lapin Track nails a tone that's hard to find: youthful but restrained, mysterious without being flashy. The character dynamics are the real draw here — everyone's caught between wanting normalcy and being unable to resist the pull of a good puzzle. If you liked Hyouka's low-key mysteries and the way Gosick builds tension through character rather than spectacle, this 12-episode second season fits right in that space. It's contemplative, it's atmospheric, and it trusts you to pay attention.
