Sexual Pursuit

A mysterious board game, purchased from a traveling salesman, promises to bring Yuji closer to his family. He convinces his stepmother to play with him, and at first it seems harmless — draw a card, follow the instruction, repeat. Then the cards start getting a lot more personal, and the game turns out to have some kind of supernatural pull that makes it very hard to stop playing. That's the setup for Soukan Yuugi, a 2-episode OVA from 2007 by Y.O.U.C., adapted from a visual novel and firmly in hentai territory. The board game framing is genuinely a decent hook — it gives the story a structured escalation rather than just jumping straight into things, and there's a mild psychological tension in watching two characters slowly realize what kind of game they've actually agreed to play. The character designs are detailed and the animation holds up reasonably well for the era. It's not trying to be subtle about its taboo themes, so go in knowing exactly what it is. If you've watched things like Immoral Sisters or Bible Black and appreciate when hentai at least tries to build some atmosphere and context before diving in, this scratches a similar itch. It's short, the premise is more inventive than most, and it does enough character work in the setup to make the escalation feel earned rather than arbitrary.
