The tone stays dark — this isn't a cozy isekai where the protagonist befriends everyone through kindness. It's closer to Overlord in how it handles power and moral ambiguity, with an eat-or-be-eaten philosophy taken literally. If you liked That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime but wished it had more edge and less diplomatic politeness, this scratches that itch. There are also shades of Goblin Slayer in terms of how unflinching the world can be. The consumption-based power system keeps things interesting because every fight is also a potential upgrade. It's a TV series based on the light novel, and it leans hard into strategy, evolution mechanics, and the kind of monster-perspective storytelling you don't get often enough.
