Re:Monster Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After being killed in his previous life, Gobrou woke up as the weakest thing imaginable — a goblin. But here's the twist: he can eat anything and absorb its powers. Kill a bear, eat the bear, gain bear strength. Kill something with fire magic, eat it, now you've got fire magic. The first season followed him climbing from bottom-tier goblin to a fully evolved powerhouse leading his own mercenary group, Parabellum, made up of monsters, demi-humans, and even a human princess. Re:Monster 2nd Season picks up right where that left off. Aporou (his evolved name) is now managing an entire faction in a world where humans, elves, beastkin, and monsters are all jockeying for territory and survival. The tone stays dark — this isn't a cozy isekai where the protagonist befriends everyone through kindness. It's closer to Overlord in how it handles power and moral ambiguity, with an eat-or-be-eaten philosophy taken literally. If you liked That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime but wished it had more edge and less diplomatic politeness, this scratches that itch. There are also shades of Goblin Slayer in terms of how unflinching the world can be. The consumption-based power system keeps things interesting because every fight is also a potential upgrade. It's a TV series based on the light novel, and it leans hard into strategy, evolution mechanics, and the kind of monster-perspective storytelling you don't get often enough.
