Ninja Kamui

Synopsis
A former ninja assassin hiding in rural America under a fake name, Joe Higan has been living quietly with his wife and kid. That lasts about as long as you'd expect. When his former clan tracks him down and murders his family, Joe barely survives — and what comes next is a straight-up revenge rampage through a world where ancient ninja techniques collide with cybernetic enhancements and combat cyborgs. This is a 13-episode original TV series from 2024, directed by Sunghoo Park, the same guy behind Jujutsu Kaisen's best fight sequences, and you can feel that pedigree in every frame. The action choreography is genuinely brutal — limbs come off, blood sprays, and Higan fights like someone who has nothing left to lose. The tone is dark and stays dark. There's no comic relief sidekick or tournament arc filler here, just a man cutting through layers of conspiracy within his old clan, led by a figure named Yamaji who clearly has bigger plans than just punishing deserters. If you liked the ruthless ninja warfare in Basilisk or the lone-wolf vengeance energy of Afro Samurai, this hits a similar nerve but with a modern sci-fi twist. The blend of traditional shinobi combat and futuristic tech gives it a distinct identity, and the soundtrack — anchored by Coldrain's opening theme 'Vengeance' — matches the intensity well. It's lean, mean, and doesn't waste your time.
