NG Knight Lamune & 40 EX
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Entire fantasy worlds have been saved by Lamune, who remembers absolutely none of it — and is just living a normal life back home on Earth. That's the setup for this three-episode OVA, and it's as charming and chaotic as it sounds. The villain's remnants have hitched a ride back to Earth too, and a familiar evil is slowly clawing its way back to life. Meanwhile, one of Lamune's allies is cobbling together a combat vehicle from whatever she can scavenge around Tokyo, while two others are desperately trying to track Lamune down before everything goes sideways. There's a real scrappy, low-stakes energy to it — nobody has a clean plan, and things are held together mostly by optimism and improvisation. It leans hard into comedy, with the mecha and isekai elements serving more as a playground for goofy situations than serious action. The 1991 animation gives it that warm, hand-drawn texture that fans of Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru or El Hazard will immediately recognize and appreciate. If you grew up on that era of adventurous, lighthearted isekai before the genre had a name, this fits right into that same pocket. It is short — only three episodes — so it never overstays its welcome. Think of it as a breezy, nostalgic footnote to a fun franchise rather than a grand finale. Worth an afternoon if you want something unpretentious and genuinely fun from early 90s anime.
