Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S Short Animation Series
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Tohru, Kanna, Elma, and every other lovable dragon from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid are back, except now they're tiny, chibi, and somehow even more adorable. Mini Dragon is a 13-episode ONA series from Kyoto Animation that aired as a lead-up to Dragon Maid S, and it's basically bite-sized comfort food for anyone who already loves these characters. The setup is simple — the dragons continue figuring out human life in the city of Oborozuka, except the short format strips everything down to pure comedic moments. Tohru obsessing over Kobayashi, Kanna being effortlessly cute, Elma losing her mind over snacks, Fafnir being antisocial — all rendered in this round little chibi art style that makes every interaction feel like a four-panel manga come to life. Each episode is quick enough that you can burn through the whole thing in one sitting without even trying. The vibe is wholesome through and through. There's no real plot to follow, no stakes, just dragons being charmingly out of place among humans. It's the kind of thing you throw on when you want something warm and low-effort after a long day. If you liked the gentle humor of Endro! or the oddball dragon antics in Dragon Half, this hits a similar note. And if you're already a Dragon Maid fan, this is a nice appetizer before diving into season two. Just don't expect anything heavy — that's the whole point.
