Mirai no Lemon Sour x Final Fantasy VII Rebirth CM
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture a seven-foot sword, silver hair, and a destroyer of worlds sitting at a bar drinking a canned lemon sour. That's the entire premise, and honestly it works. This one-episode commercial is a collaboration between Asahi Beer and Square Enix, dropping Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth into a modern bar that looks suspiciously like Seventh Heaven. Instead of monologuing about destiny or impaling someone, he's just... enjoying a Mirai no Lemon Sour chu-hai. And the kicker is that rare, almost satisfied expression on his face. The guy who never smiles is apparently a fan of citrus-flavored alcohol. The animation quality is genuinely good for a commercial — it doesn't feel like a cheap cash-in. The fantasy-meets-everyday-life contrast is played with a light touch, not overexplained. It's the kind of humor that works because it trusts you to know who Sephiroth is and why seeing him unwind is absurd. If you grew up with Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and its very serious, very dramatic take on the character, this is a refreshing left turn. It has that same energy as Persona 5: The Animation's lighter character moments — familiar faces in unexpectedly human situations. It's short, it's specific, and it's genuinely funny without trying too hard. Worth the two minutes if you have any attachment to the source material.
