馃摉 SYNOPSIS
"Manual of Ninja Martial Arts," the sole animation from director Nagisa Oshima, adapts Sanpei Shirato's comic. The story unfolds in the Muromachi period, centering on the son of an assassinated feudal lord. Driven by a thirst for vengeance, he embarks on a quest to avenge his father's death. His path intersects with Kagemaru, a renegade ninja. Kagemaru is dedicated to helping the impoverished peasants and farmers rise up against the oppressive rule of Oda Nobunaga's regime. The film, true to Oshima's style, promises a provocative exploration of themes such as revenge, social injustice, and the struggle for freedom within a historical context.
