Synopsis
What does loyalty even mean when the two men sharing it are supposed to be enemies? Soldiers from enemy nations find that the war raging around them makes that bond feel impossible from every angle. Taki Reizen is a young commander of noble lineage, carrying the weight of his country on his shoulders. Klaus, nicknamed 'Mad Dog' for his intensity, has pledged his loyalty to Taki despite coming from the opposing side. The people around them don't approve, the politics don't allow it, and the battlefield doesn't care about either of them. That tension is basically the whole show. This two-episode OVA from 2009 doesn't have time to waste, so it drops you straight into the emotional core of their relationship — the history between them, the loyalty that doesn't fit neatly into any category, and the cost of caring about someone when war keeps rewriting the rules. The art is older but the character dynamics hold up, and the wartime backdrop gives the romance a weight that more lighthearted Boys Love titles don't usually go for. If you've seen Zion no Koeda or Giglio and wanted something with more military grit and emotional stakes, this scratches that itch. Fair warning: it's two episodes, so it's more of a starting point than a complete story — the manga goes much deeper — but as an introduction to these two characters and their complicated world, it lands.
