Synopsis

All Xu Xingze wants out of life is one thing: play basketball at the best high school in the city. He's got the skills, he's got the drive, and he's got... the wrong school. Thanks to a clerical mix-up by his sister, he ends up enrolled at Jingbei Affiliated High School instead of the powerhouse he was aiming for. Now he's stuck at a no-name program with a ragtag group of players nobody expects anything from. Classic underdog setup, and season 3 of this ONA is where things really start to pay off. By this point, Xu Xingze and his teammates have been through enough intense matchups to actually believe they belong on the court. The goal this time around is taking down Jingshi Affiliated High School, a serious wall standing between them and a shot at Cheng Feng's Beihai Middle School — the team Xingze has been itching to face since the beginning. It's personal, and the stakes feel earned because the show has been building these rivalries steadily across two prior seasons. What sets this apart from a lot of sports anime is the grounded approach. No zone abilities, no superpowers — just basketball fundamentals, team chemistry, and characters growing into their roles. If you liked the realistic side of Slam Dunk or wished Ahiru no Sora had tighter pacing, this scratches a similar itch. It's Chinese animation from Heart & Soul Animation, with a distinctive visual style that takes a minute to adjust to but fits the tone well. Worth catching up on if you're into sports stories that stay honest about what it takes to compete.
