Kitakaze no Kureta Table-kake

📖 SYNOPSIS

Based on a Norwegian fable, "Kitakaze no Kureta Table-kake" follows Hans, a baker whose flour is repeatedly blown away by the North Wind. Seeking recompense, Hans journeys to the North Wind's castle. The North Wind, in an attempt to make amends, gifts Hans a tablecloth that magically summons delicious food. However, a deceitful innkeeper steals the tablecloth. Hans returns to the North Wind, who then gives him a sheep that produces gold coins. Again, the innkeeper steals the gift. Finally, Hans receives a scepter, booby-trapped by the North Wind to expose the thief. The innkeeper's greed leads to his downfall, and Hans, finally in possession of his fantastical items, returns home to his mother. The story explores themes of honesty, greed, and the consequences of one's actions.
