📖 SYNOPSIS
After finally finding friends, finally feeling seen, and finally recognizing her feelings for Kazehaya, Sawako Kuronuma discovers that's exactly when everything gets harder. This 12-episode TV series picks up right where the first season left off, with Valentine's Day looming and Sawako overthinking every possible move. She decides not to give Kazehaya chocolates, he notices the gap, and what follows is one of the most painfully realistic stretches of romantic miscommunication in shoujo anime. You know that feeling where two people clearly like each other but neither can just say it, and you want to reach through the screen and shake them? That's basically this entire season, but it never feels cheap or manufactured. The hesitation comes from real insecurity — Sawako genuinely doesn't believe someone like Kazehaya could feel the same way, and he's struggling with his own doubts about where he stands with her. Production I.G keeps the animation soft and expressive, and the soundtrack does a lot of quiet emotional heavy lifting in scenes where nobody's saying much at all. If you liked the slow-burn tension in Ao Haru Ride or the way Toradora! handles the gap between knowing your feelings and acting on them, this hits similar notes. It's gentler than either of those, though — more about internal courage than dramatic confrontation. Lovely Complex fans will appreciate the earnestness too. Just don't expect a rush. This one takes its time, and that's kind of the whole point.
