📖 SYNOPSIS
At twenty years old and just starting college, Botan Kamiina moves into a dorm and has her first drink at a welcome party — a highball, handed to her by Ibuki Tonami, the third-year dorm leader who loves drinking but gets weirdly self-conscious about it around other people. That small moment kicks off a friendship built around trying different drinks together, from Japanese sake to whiskey to wine, and the series just settles into this cozy rhythm of dorm life, late-night conversations, and figuring yourself out in your early twenties. Set in Chichibu, Saitama, the show weaves in music, movies, and other cultural touchstones alongside the alcohol — each drink paired with a mood, a moment, or a personality in a way that feels genuinely thoughtful rather than gimmicky. The Girls Love element develops naturally out of the closeness between Botan and Ibuki, growing from shared glasses into something warmer. Other dorm residents round out the cast, each bringing their own quirks and backstories to the table. The vibe is less drama, more hanging out — think the gentle emotional honesty of Bloom Into You mixed with the adult slice-of-life comfort of a good food anime. If you liked Sweet Blue Flowers for its quiet, grounded approach to relationships, this hits a similar note but with a more comedic, laid-back energy. Studio Soigne is adapting the web manga for a 2026 TV series, and it's shaping up to be a really pleasant watch for anyone who just wants characters being people together.
