Synopsis

Few things in anime hit as hard as watching someone try to be better than who they were yesterday. That's basically the entire heart of Itsuka no Watashi Yori — a short CM directed by loundraw, the artist whose visual style you've probably seen floating around even if you didn't know the name. This one follows a high school girl juggling academics and sports, pushing herself through the kind of daily grind that doesn't make for dramatic showdowns but hits way closer to home. It's only one episode, barely a few minutes, and yet it manages to land an emotional punch that some full-length series struggle to pull off. The animation from Flat Studio is gorgeous in that loundraw way — soft lighting, expressive movement, colors that feel like they're carrying emotion on their own. The soundtrack ties it all together, turning a simple story about personal growth into something that genuinely lingers. If you liked the quiet determination in A Place Further than the Universe or the way Run with the Wind made you care deeply about people just trying their best, this is cut from the same cloth. It also shares that introspective warmth you find in March Comes in Like a Lion, where the real battle is internal. It's a Z-Kai collaboration, so there's an educational angle baked in, but it never feels like a commercial — it feels like a short film that happens to believe in you. Worth the few minutes it asks for.
