Isaku: Tsumi to Batsu
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Having the right expectations matters here — this is a one-episode adult special from 1999 based on a dark visual novel, and it leans hard into that. "Tsumi to Batsu" translates to "Crime and Punishment," and the title isn't decoration. Isaku: Tsumi to Batsu comes from the same lineage of late-90s eroge adaptations that were less interested in romance and more interested in pushing into uncomfortable, transgressive territory. Studio Kyuuma and Triple X weren't making feel-good content — this is the kind of production that was designed specifically for fans of the source visual novel who wanted to see its darker scenarios animated. The tone is tense and coercive rather than playful, which puts it closer to the grimmer end of late-90s hentai OVAs than anything softcore. If you played the original Isaku game and wanted a visual companion to it, this exists for exactly that reason. If you're familiar with other dark visual novel adaptations from that era — think the rougher, more disturbing titles that circulated in late-99s import circles — you'll recognize the energy immediately. It's a single episode, so there's no slow build. It drops you into the scenario and commits. Just go in knowing what the source material is, because this adapts that faithfully and without much softening.
