Synopsis
Noboru Takizawa's transfer to a new high school comes with an immediate revelation: every single dispute — doesn't matter how small — gets settled in the boxing ring. That's just how things work here. And since he's already caught feelings for the school beauty Yukari, he's now locked into a rivalry with the reigning top fighter, Saburō Ibuki, whether he asked for it or not. This is a two-episode OVA from Gainax, and they're playing the whole thing completely straight-faced while being absolutely ridiculous about it. The animation is intentionally styled after 1970s sports anime — chunky, dramatic, full of poses — and the combat is cranked so far past normal that it stops being sports and starts being something closer to mythology. It's a love letter to a specific era of shounen storytelling, the kind where a punch could send someone through a wall and nobody questioned it. If you grew up watching anything like Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple and wanted something leaner and weirder, this scratches that itch. Fans of Kill la Kill's energy — where school hierarchy becomes an absurd blood sport — will recognize the same DNA here. At two episodes, it never overstays its welcome. It sets up the rivalry, introduces the cast, and delivers exactly what it promises: exaggerated school combat dressed up in vintage anime style, with enough self-awareness to make it genuinely funny without winking at the camera too hard.
