Guardian Ninja Mamoru
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Don't let the disheveled hair, thick glasses, and completely harmless appearance fool you — Mamoru Kagemori is exactly what you need, right up until the moment you need him. That's the point. His family has been secretly guarding the Konnyaku household for 400 years, and right now that means keeping an eye on Yūna, his childhood friend and neighbor who has an almost supernatural talent for wandering into trouble. She trips, gets lost, attracts weirdos — the usual. What she doesn't know is that the dorky guy next door is a fully trained ninja who quietly saves her skin on a near-daily basis. The moment she's in danger, the glasses come off and the ninja suit goes on. Then he's back to looking clueless before she notices anything happened. The setup is genuinely funny because of how committed Mamoru is to the bit — centuries of family duty, and his job is basically babysitting. It's a lighthearted TV series with 12 episodes, so it never overstays its welcome. If you liked the servant-protecting-the-oblivious-person dynamic from Hayate the Combat Butler, this has a similar warmth to it. Fans of Himawari! will also find familiar ground here — ninja life played for laughs rather than intensity. It's a comfort watch, the kind of show you put on when you want something low-stakes and a little romantic without much drama. Nothing about it demands your full attention, which is honestly part of its appeal.
