📖 SYNOPSIS
Inside a sprawling MMORPG called Planet, four strangers form the most feared party in the game. They call themselves The Akabane Family — a dad, a mom, and two brothers who roleplay as a tight-knit household while dominating the game together. The twist they don't realize: they actually are a family. The same broken, disconnected family that can barely stand being in the same house. Taichiro is a shut-in who won't leave his room. His younger brother Asuma is the golden child overachiever. Their dad Kojiro has zero authority at home, and their mom Miyabi has basically checked out of parenting entirely. But in Planet, none of that baggage exists. They laugh together, fight together, and protect each other — all while having no clue who's behind the avatars. Good Night World is a 12-episode ONA from Studio NAZ that uses its virtual world setup to ask a genuinely uncomfortable question: what if the only version of your family that works is the fake one? If you liked the trapped-in-a-game tension of Sword Art Online or the found-family dynamics in Log Horizon, this scratches a similar itch but trades the power fantasy for something more emotionally raw. It's also got shades of Summer Wars in how it explores digital connection versus real-life isolation. The psychological drama hits harder than you'd expect, and the pacing across 12 episodes keeps things tight. Just know going in — this one's more about the feelings than the boss fights.
