"Girls' Work" was first revealed in June 2008 as an all-ages visual novel, sharing the spotlight with "Mahou Tsukai no Yoru" and the remake of "Tsukihime" in Tech Gian magazine. The project's initial form was a visual novel, suggesting a focus on interactive storytelling and character development. However, the direction of the project shifted. In December 2010, it was announced that "Girls' Work" would be released as an anime series instead of the previously planned visual novel.
