Genmukan: The Sin of Desire & Shame
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Detective Satoru Kido is brought to a sprawling mansion to track down a missing jewel — straightforward enough, until the people living there turn out to be anything but. You've got a young mistress named Ayano with an unsettling air of authority, a maid named Nozomi who's a little too eager to please, a stiff butler holding the place together, and a tutor named Mei who clearly knows more than she's letting on. The mystery of the jewel ends up being the least interesting thing happening under that roof. What actually hooks you is the layered tension between the characters — everyone's hiding something, and Kido keeps pulling at threads that unravel into something much more personal and charged than a simple theft case. The mansion itself feels almost like a character: opulent, sealed off from the outside world, and thick with secrets. If you've watched Shinshō Genmukan or something like Bible Black and appreciated that mix of gothic atmosphere with adult content, this sits comfortably in that same space. It's a 2-episode OVA from 2003, so it's short and stays focused — no padding, just setup and payoff. The art holds up reasonably well for the era, and the character dynamics are genuinely more interesting than you'd expect from something this brief. Worth a watch if you want your adult content wrapped in actual atmosphere and a story that at least pretends to have stakes.
