Fuuto PI: The Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Long before he became half of Kamen Rider W, long before the fedora became iconic, a young Shoutarou Hidari's story had a beginning — and this one starts right there. In this movie, Shoutarou answers a simple question from Tokime: how did it all start? And the answer takes us back to the windy streets of Fuuto, where a kid who kept getting called "half-baked" apprenticed under the coolest detective he'd ever met — Soukichi Narumi. What Shoutarou didn't know was that his mentor had a whole other side to him. As strange criminals called Dopants started showing up around the city, wielding dangerous powers from devices called Gaia Memories, Soukichi was already fighting them in secret as Kamen Rider Skull. The movie is basically a noir-flavored origin story wrapped in tokusatsu action, and Studio KAI brings the same sharp animation style that made the Fuuto PI series look so good. The detective atmosphere here is the real draw. It's less about spectacle and more about the relationship between a mentor and the kid who idolized him, with genuine emotional weight underneath the fights. If you liked Fuuto PI or have any attachment to Kamen Rider W, this fills in a piece of the backstory that actually matters. Think of it like Kamen Rider Den-O's approach to character-driven stories, but with a darker, moodier edge. It's a single movie, so the commitment is minimal — just sit down and let it hit you.
