📖 SYNOPSIS
Hidden on an ordinary street sits a candy store that only appears to people who are lucky enough to find it — though whether it's actually luck is up for debate. Zenitendou is run by Beniko, a mysterious shopkeeper who somehow knows exactly what's troubling each person who walks through her door. She recommends a specific candy tailored to their problem, and here's the catch: the candy can either solve your issue or make everything worse, depending entirely on how you use it. Each episode follows a different person stumbling into the shop, getting their special confection, and then facing the consequences of their own choices. It's basically a supernatural anthology series disguised as a kids' show about Japanese sweets, and the moral undertones hit harder than you'd expect. The format keeps things fresh since you're never stuck with a character who isn't working — new story, new person, new candy, new lesson. If you liked xxxHOLiC and its whole "be careful what you wish for" energy, or if Pet Shop of Horrors was your thing with its cursed-shop-owner setup, this scratches that same itch in a more accessible package. The mystery angle is light but effective, and there's a cozy-yet-unsettling atmosphere that Toei Animation nails with the visuals. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's a genuinely pleasant watch with enough bite to keep adults engaged alongside the younger target audience.
