Fureru.
Oshimeter
Synopsis
What happens when a mysterious creature gives you and your two closest friends the ability to read each other's thoughts? It sounds like a dream until you realize how much people leave unsaid for a reason. Aki, Ryo, and Yuta grew up together on a small island, bonded by a mysterious little hedgehog-like being called Fureru. When they touch, they can hear each other's inner feelings — no filters, no walls. At 20, they move to Tokyo and start living together in Takadanobaba, each chasing a different life: one bartends, one sells real estate, one studies fashion design. But the city has a way of pulling people apart, and when the gaps between who they are and who they present start widening, that telepathic link becomes less of a comfort and more of a threat. This is a CloverWorks movie from 2024, and here's the thing that matters — it reunites the director, writer, and character designer behind Anohana and The Anthem of the Heart. Tatsuyuki Nagai, Mari Okada, and Masayoshi Tanaka doing another story about emotional honesty between close friends who are terrified of losing each other. If you liked Anohana or Her Blue Sky, this is the same creative DNA applied to young adults instead of teenagers, and the shift in maturity hits different. It's quiet, it's emotional, and it earns its gut punches. YOASOBI did the theme song too, which fits the mood perfectly.
