Synopsis
With a quiet admiration for someone just out of reach, Takahiro Matsui enrolls at Beiyu High School with his sights set on Yuji Tsukamoto, swim team captain and heir to a conglomerate empire. When Matsui joins the swim team and finds himself face-to-face with the guy he's looked up to since junior high, things don't just pick up where they left off. Yuji has a confession to make — something that happened three years ago that clearly still weighs on him — and that revelation shifts everything between them. This is a short one, a single OVA from 1994 by J.C.Staff adapted from manga, so it moves quickly and doesn't waste time on setup. The swim team backdrop gives it a specific, grounded atmosphere — the pressure of competition, the closeness that comes from training together, the way leadership can isolate someone even when they seem untouchable. The emotional tone is quieter than you might expect, more introspective than dramatic in a showy way. If you've watched No Money or dipped into Banana Fish and appreciated stories where the relationship dynamic carries real weight rather than just surface-level tension, this scratches a similar itch. It's a relic from early Boys Love OVA territory, so temper expectations for production, but the emotional core holds up. Worth an afternoon if you're in the mood for something short and genuinely felt.
