Synopsis

Eri — a Holstein cow who's lived her whole life on a quiet mountain ranch — has never really questioned the fence around it. Then a group of Jersey cows shows up from the outside, and among them is Sou — and Eri is just completely gone for him. What follows is less of a romance and more of a journey inward, as Eri puts herself through a series of personal trials trying to make sense of what she's feeling. It's a short movie that uses its animal characters to get at something very human: that moment when an emotion you've never experienced before forces you to confront who you actually are. The whole thing has this gentle, contemplative pace — think pastoral scenery with a lot of emotional weight underneath. The rural setting feels almost meditative, but there's real tension between Eri's sheltered existence and the turbulence happening inside her. It's the kind of story that sits with you after it ends. If you liked the quiet rural honesty of Silver Spoon or the unexpected emotional depth of Arashi no Yoru ni, this is in that same neighborhood. It's a drama told through cows, sure, but the feelings are painfully real. Based on a novel and produced by Au Praxinoscope and Miyu Productions, it's a single movie — so the time commitment is minimal, but the emotional payoff is worth it.
