An unlikely friendship blossoms into a tender romance between a studious honor student and a carefree guitarist as they navigate the complexities of first love during high school.

📖 SYNOPSIS

At the same all-boys high school, quiet honor student Rihito Sajou and laid-back guitarist Hikaru Kusakabe couldn't be more different — Sajou never puts a toe out of line, and Kusakabe coasts through class thinking about his next band practice. They barely exist in each other's worlds until a school chorus festival throws them together. Kusakabe catches Sajou alone in a classroom, struggling to nail the song everyone else seems to have down, and something about seeing this perfect student actually fumble at something makes him want to stick around and help. What starts as casual after-school practice sessions slowly becomes something neither of them expected.

This is a movie, just one hour long, and it uses every minute well. The watercolor-style animation from A-1 Pictures gives everything this soft, almost dreamlike quality that fits the story perfectly — it feels like flipping through someone's sketchbook of memories. The acoustic guitar soundtrack by Kotaro Oshio sits underneath the whole thing so naturally you almost forget it's there, which is exactly the point. The relationship between Sajou and Kusakabe is handled with genuine care, focused on those small, honest moments of figuring out your feelings rather than going for drama or spectacle.

If you liked the slow emotional build of Sweet Blue Flowers or the music-and-feelings blend of Given, this is in that same lane. It's quiet, it's tender, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You want a sincere boys' love story that treats its romance with genuine emotional warmth
A-1 Pictures' soft watercolor art style and minimalist character designs appeal to you
You prefer a tight 60-minute film over a drawn-out multi-episode romance series
You're looking for a grounded school romance—no fantasy gimmicks, just two guys falling for each other

❌ SKIP IF...

A teacher-student subplot with inappropriate dynamics is a dealbreaker for you
You want deep character backstories—the short runtime doesn't leave room for that
You're not interested in slow, dialogue-driven romance with zero action or conflict stakes
