Doraemon Movie 44: Nobita no E Sekai Monogatari
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A mysterious painting unexpectedly lands in Nobita's hands, and naturally, because this is Doraemon, he and his friends end up inside it. This time the painting is a portal to a medieval European kingdom called Artoria, complete with castles, a legendary jewel, and a small winged demon named Chai who tags along for the ride. They meet two local kids, Claire and Milo, and get pulled into a quest to protect the kingdom's most prized treasure from a pretty serious threat. If you grew up with the Doraemon movies, you know the formula — Nobita's crew gets dropped into some wild setting, stakes escalate way beyond what you'd expect from a kids' film, and there's usually a moment that hits harder emotionally than it has any right to. This one leans into a fantasy-adventure vibe with a European fairytale aesthetic, which gives it a different visual flavor compared to recent entries like Doraemon: Nobita's Sky Utopia. The animation from Shin-Ei blends hand-drawn warmth with polished digital work, and the orchestral score does a lot of heavy lifting during the action sequences. If you liked Doraemon: Nobita's Three Visionary Swordsmen or Nobita's Great Adventure in the South Seas, this is in that same lane — familiar gang, fresh world, action-packed without losing the heart. It's a 2025 movie, so the production values are as good as this franchise has ever looked. Solid entry point even if you haven't seen the other 43.
