Crayon Shinchan the Movie: The Tornado Legend of Ninja Mononoke
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Over thirty years and dozens of movies, five-year-old Shinnosuke Nohara has been mooning people and embarrassing his parents — and now he gets told he's not actually a Nohara. A mysterious woman named Chiyome shows up claiming she's his real mother and that he was switched at birth with another kid. Before anyone can process that bombshell, a ninja army swoops in, kidnaps Shinnosuke, and drags him to a hidden Ninja Village where his supposed birth clan has been guarding something called the "Earth's Navel" — basically a giant stopper keeping the planet from falling apart. Meanwhile, Hiroshi and Misae refuse to accept any of it and go full desperate-parent mode trying to get their son back. This is the 30th anniversary Crayon Shin-chan movie, and the team clearly wanted to go big by tackling something the franchise has never really touched: who Shinnosuke actually is. The ninja setting gives it surprisingly fluid action sequences that lovingly parody the kind of stuff you'd see in Naruto, while keeping that trademark Shin-chan absurdity front and center. If you enjoy how Gintama blends genuine emotional stakes with comedy that has zero shame, or if you grew up on Doraemon movies where the gang gets dropped into some wild adventure setting, this hits a similar sweet spot. The comedy is dumb in the best way, but when it gets sincere about family, it actually lands. A good entry point for the movies even if you're not deep into the series.
