Synopsis
A middle schooler in Chiba City, Mito Hamajoh's biggest problem is that she's painfully, aggressively ordinary. She knows it, everyone knows it, and she can't escape it. Then a transfer student named Asumi Chishiro shows up right before summer break and casually announces she has zero interest in anything normal — which is basically Mito's entire identity. Before Mito can fully process that insult, creatures from the demon realm start popping up, and suddenly her boring life isn't so boring anymore. This is a magical girl comedy done in bite-sized five-minute episodes, so the whole 13-episode TV series is something you can knock out in about an hour. It doesn't waste time. The humor leans into the absurdity of an aggressively average girl getting dragged into magical girl chaos, and the short format keeps the jokes tight without overstaying their welcome. Chiba City as a setting gives it a grounded, local vibe that contrasts nicely with the supernatural weirdness. If you liked the way Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica played with magical girl expectations or how Yuki Yuna is a Hero mixed slice-of-life with the genre, this lands in similar territory but stays firmly on the comedic side. No gut punches here — just a girl whose ordinariness becomes the punchline in a world that suddenly demands she be anything but. It's light, it's quick, and the dynamic between Mito and Asumi carries it.
