📖 SYNOPSIS
"Jarinko Chie," a 1981 film, adapts Etsumi Haruki's popular manga. The story centers on ten-year-old Chie, who is humorously described as "the most unfortunate girl in Japan." She takes on the responsibility of running her family's diner. Her life is further complicated by her unemployed yakuza father and the separation from her mother. Despite these potentially depressing circumstances, the anime is presented as a very funny comedy. The setting is Osaka, a city with a distinct cultural identity compared to Tokyo.
