The animation during the combat sequences is genuinely some of the best you'll see in anime, and the Sawano soundtrack hits in ways that are almost unfair. But what makes this stretch of Attack on Titan land so hard is the character work. Decisions have real weight here. People you care about are put in impossible situations, and the show doesn't flinch. It's dark, emotional, and action-packed in equal measure, with gore and military strategy woven into every episode. If you liked the moral complexity of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood or the existential dread of Neon Genesis Evangelion, this is that energy cranked up to its peak. And if Claymore's bleak survival tone ever clicked with you, this will too. Ten episodes, no filler, all payoff.
