Amazing Nurse Nanako

At 16 years old, clumsy and sweet-natured Nanako Shichigusa lives in a secluded mansion on a military base, working as a maid for the eccentric Dr. Kyoji Ogami. Despite the title calling her a nurse, most of her day involves dodging the doctor's bizarre training regimens and failing at basic domestic tasks. Standard stuff — until people start coming after her, and nobody will explain why. The show starts goofy and leans hard into its comedic energy, with Nanako stumbling through one chaotic situation after another while remaining cheerfully oblivious to how strange her circumstances actually are. But underneath the slapstick and the fanservice, there are hints of something darker: Nanako's past is apparently a secret worth protecting, and Dr. Ogami knows more than he lets on. It's a six-episode OVA, so it moves fast and doesn't overstay its welcome. The tone is mostly light — think comedy-first with sci-fi weirdness slowly creeping in — but it does shift gears as the mystery around Nanako deepens. If you enjoyed the chaotic energy of Excel Saga or the fanservice-heavy action of Agent Aika or Najica Blitz Tactics, this sits comfortably in that same late-90s niche.
