Ah My Buddha Katsu
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Ikkou Satonaka is a monk-in-training living at a Buddhist temple with six priestesses-in-training, which sounds like a peaceful spiritual arrangement until you find out his supernatural powers only activate when he gets flustered by the women around him. His grandmother, the head priestess, essentially weaponizes his embarrassment to handle ghost-busting duties. It's a strange setup, and the show leans into that strangeness with a lot of comedic energy. This second season, Katsu, picks up with a new girl named Kazuki arriving from a rival temple, which predictably makes Ikkou's already chaotic temple life even messier. The dynamic between Ikkou trying to be a serious monk and constantly failing is where most of the humor lives, and it works because the character relationships have some actual warmth underneath the silliness. If you enjoyed the harem-comedy chaos of Love Hina or the supernatural roommate situations in Tenchi Muyo, this hits similar notes but wraps everything in a Buddhist temple setting, which gives it a slightly different flavor than the usual school-based entries in the genre. Rosario + Vampire fans who like their supernatural comedy with a bit of romance layered in will also find familiar ground here. At 12 episodes, it doesn't overstay its welcome. It's a lighthearted, low-stakes watch — the kind of thing you put on when you want something genuinely funny without needing to follow a complicated plot.
