I am genuinely stressed watching Luffy get tossed around like a ragdoll and Katakuri seeing the future makes every single attack look useless so I have no idea how Gear Fourth helps

Sanji and Pudding bickering like an old married couple while they try to save the day with a cake is exactly the kind of weird comedy this arc needs

Katakuri is actually terrifying because he just looks at Luffy and does the exact same move but better and stronger and it feels like Luffy is fighting a version of himself that never loses

Katakuri copying the Gatling Gun with multiple mochi arms was an insane visual, and it really shows the gap in their power levels right now. Luffy is getting absolutely destroyed in there

I was stunned when Luffy realized his gatling was being countered by even more mochi arms because he looked so small compared to those giant fists

Those silhouettes in the background looked a bit strange during the transition scenes but the actual fight choreography between the mochi and rubber was smooth enough to make up for it

Katakuri is basically a wall that cannot be touched and his mochi powers are way more dangerous than any of us expected after seeing what he did to the hawk gatling
amaterasu_angel's avatar

The way the animation stepped up for the close quarters exchange in the mirror world was great even if some of the stuff with the other characters looked a bit rough today

Katakuri just straight up laughed off Luffy's Gear Second, and I was genuinely a little frustrated watching him effortlessly dodge and mimic every single move in Mirror World like it was just another Tuesday. My mind was blown by how much bigger his mochi fists got during that insane gatling exchange, making Luffy look totally outmatched – how is our captain gonna beat someone who can literally see what's coming?

Katakuri matching every single gum gum move with a version that hits ten times harder is terrifying and it really puts Luffy in a corner like we have never seen before
kagamine_twins_495's avatar
kagamine_twins_495
Pudding acting like a total lunatic while helping Sanji with the cake was hilarious and her switching between hating him and loving him is the best part of the whole wedding mess
guru_guru_275's avatar
guru_guru_275
My jaw dropped watching Katakuri just shrug off every single one of Luffy's attacks, his observation haki is just unreal! I honestly don't know how Luffy is gonna overcome that kind of foresight; it feels like he's hitting a wall he can't even see.

My skin was crawling when Katakuri started copying the Gatling because he just looks like a total monster compared to anyone Luffy has ever fought before

Pudding is such a mess with her mixed feelings for Sanji and it is the only funny thing happening while the rest of the crew is basically running for their lives
moryomaru_252's avatar
moryomaru_252
I was actually stressed out watching Katakuri just completely shut down every single move Luffy tried because he can see the future and that mochi power is just too much
shishinki_255's avatar
shishinki_255
When Katakuri just stood there over Luffy, totally owning him after mimicking every single move, my heart actually sank. It was genuinely frustrating to watch because each blow looked so heavy and impactful, making me question if Luffy could even land a real hit, let alone win this whole thing.

The threat level for the Straw Hats feels so high with the Sunny being chased and Luffy getting his head kicked in by someone who is clearly superior in every way

During that intense Gatling clash, I genuinely felt the impact of every hit, the animation was just phenomenal. It's unsettling how Katakuri mirrors Luffy's fighting style, but with such a menacing edge; I'm left wondering if Luffy has to completely abandon his usual tactics to even stand a chance.

I honestly think Katakuri is the most intimidating villain we have seen in a long time because he just feels completely untouchable right now, and seeing him use those mochi powers to copy the Gatling gun with even more arms was just nuts, and I love the contrast with Sanji and Pudding and Chiffon being funny while making the cake
chika_fujiwara_162's avatar
chika_fujiwara_162
Katakuri's foresight and mastery of his Mochi-Mochi fruit completely caught me off guard, making Luffy look like he's still in the East Blue sometimes, and it's tough to watch my captain get pummeled like that. But hey, at least Sanji and the ladies are whipping up that cake like total pros; seeing them make real progress reminded me that even when the main fight is rough, the Straw Hats always have a plan B.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Deep in the Whole Cake Island arc, this episode escalates the Luffy vs. Katakuri confrontation that was set up in the preceding episodes, marking the beginning of one of One Piece's most celebrated extended fights. Simultaneously, it advances the crew's desperate escape plan against Big Mom, with Sanji's baking subplot becoming a crucial survival thread. Everything here feeds into the arc's climactic stretch, where individual battles and team coordination must converge for any hope of the Straw Hats making it out alive.
