Those animation shifts when Katakuri started landing heavy hits in the mirror world made the gap between him and Luffy look so massive

That explosion of anger from Brook towards Jinbe after Pedro's sacrifice felt so incredibly human; I think he was just so overwhelmed by grief and powerlessness that he didn't know how else to react. It's tough to watch the crew so utterly devastated, especially since I'm used to seeing them bounce back from anything.

Jinbe keeping his cool while Nami and the others were falling apart over Pedro is exactly why this crew needs a veteran like him

Katakuri doing the elephant gun move but better than Luffy is actually terrifying and that billion berry bounty reveal felt like a huge jump in power for the whole series

I really felt for Brook when he was crying over Pedro because those two went through so much together at the start of this mission and seeing the ship sail away without him hurts

It is wild that Katakuri can just turn into mochi to dodge everything, and his version of the gatling gun looked way more lethal than anything Luffy has done

Katakuri just standing there and making extra arms to punch Luffy is wild, but it was Brook’s reaction to Pedro that really got to me this time

Katakuri, pulling out those extra arms to just pulverize Luffy, seriously had me thinking, 'how is anyone supposed to beat this guy?' It's not just a power-up, it's like he's playing with his food, which makes his massive bounty feel terrifyingly earned.

Katakuri is terrifying since he can just copy everything Luffy does but make it ten times stronger. That mochi gatling part was scary and Luffy looks completely outmatched right now

I still cannot get over Brook crying like that because it felt so heavy and real. Seeing him lose it after finding out about Pedro really got to me

The way the crew's faces just dropped when they finally grasped what Pedro had done, it totally changed the whole vibe on the Sunny for me. I mean, I felt that shift from frantic hope to absolute despair right along with them, and it just made his sacrifice even heavier.

Luffy getting kicked around by his own moves was rough and Katakuri being a better version of him in every way is terrifying

Luffy is getting absolutely demolished in there and it is hard to watch him struggle against someone who has a better version of his own fruit

luffy is getting absolutely destroyed in that mirror world and he looks like a complete amateur compared to a top tier sweet general

watching katakuri just stand there and predict every single move makes this feel way more dangerous than any other fight so far

I felt so bad for Brook when he realized what happened to Pedro, because he was totally in the dark until now. Seeing him snap at Jinbe was intense, but you can tell he is just hurting. Then you switch back to Luffy getting his lunch taken by Katakuri and it feels like my heart is just barely holding on
rokurokubi_ronin_34's avatar
rokurokubi_ronin_34
Brook finally letting it all out about Pedro was the most painful part of the episode and Jinbe being so stoic made the tension even worse for the crew

I was really hoping Luffy would have some kind of plan but watching him get dominated by mochi arms while the crew mourns Pedro is just a lot to take in
adjuchas_ace_478's avatar

The way Katakuri can just see what is going to happen next makes Luffy look so slow and it feels like he is finally hitting a wall he cannot just punch through

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned deep in the Whole Cake Island saga, this episode marks the true beginning of Luffy's extended one-on-one confrontation with Katakuri — a fight that will define much of the arc's remaining stretch. It follows the crew's desperate escape and a devastating sacrifice that still lingers over every scene. From here, the series commits to an escalating gauntlet of endurance for both Luffy and the separated Straw Hats.
