Nezumi-kun no Chokki (TV) Episode 1: Episode 1

The episode opens with the title, setting a playful tone. Then, Nezumi-kun appears, a small gray mouse, beaming in a brand-new red vest. He proclaims his mother knitted it, declaring, "My mom knitted me this vest. It suits me perfectly, doesn't it?" His pride is evident, a small creature delighted by a simple, well-fitting garment.

A tall Pelican approaches, admiring the vest and asking to try it. Nezumi-kun offers it. The vest stretches dramatically around the Pelican's long neck and chest, appearing quite snug. Despite the clear discomfort, the Pelican smiles, asking, "Hmm, it's a bit tight, but does it suit me?" This sets the pattern.

The Pelican carefully removes the vest, and a Monkey eagerly takes its turn. The small red vest stretches even further, practically disappearing into the Monkey's chest and arms. He crouches slightly, wearing a forced, wide smile, echoing the Pelican's previous query about the fit.

Next, a large Sea Lion waddles in, keen to try the vest. The vest stretches to its absolute limit, becoming little more than two thin red straps across its vast body. The Sea Lion closes its eyes, a strained, almost pained smile on its face, yet still asks if it suits.

A majestic Lion enters the frame, taking the vest from the Sea Lion. On the Lion's thick fur, the vest nearly vanishes, looking like faint red markings on his chest. His smile, too, is broad and strained, his eyes closed in an expression of forced contentment.

The vest, now incredibly taut, is then passed to a Horse. It stretches into impossibly thin red lines over its front legs and chest, making the Horse stand stiffly. A long, rising musical tone underscores the garment's extreme deformation. The Horse's wide, open-mouthed smile suggests something beyond mere discomfort.

The Horse struggles, but the vest snaps off, flying directly into an Elephant's trunk. The enormous Elephant stretches the tiny vest, then attempts to "wear" it. The vest is comically minuscule, barely visible on its massive frame. The Elephant looks bewildered, its eyes wide, its smile forced as it asks if it suits.

Nezumi-kun bursts into the frame, distressed, pointing at the Elephant, crying, "Whoa! My vest!" The Elephant gently removes the vest, handing it back. Relief washes over Nezumi-kun's face. The Elephant then playfully lifts Nezumi-kun with its trunk, swinging him gently, both happy in their interaction.

The episode concludes with a cheerful song, "Good Luck My Friend," as Nezumi-kun dances, eventually joined by all the animals from the story. The lyrics speak of finding friends who are "just the right size" in heart, and being happy with them. The final image shows Nezumi-kun, back in his vest, swinging happily from the Elephant's trunk.
