Night operations are dangerous enough without equipment failing. Taiyo Yozakura finishes his mission, but his revolver flashes a blue warning light. Another malfunction, another sigh of frustration. This tool, meant for protection, has become a liability.

The Yozakura mansion is bright, but Shinzo Yozakura is sweating, dreading an errand. Shion dismisses his worries, but the task is to buy parts for Taiyo's gun. Taiyo offers to help, but Shinzo insists he rest. When Shinzo mentions the ominous "Chishibuki" district, Ayaka Kirisaki appears, needles in hand, offering to accompany him. Kengo and Nanao then draft a confused Taiyo into their "Shinzo Monitoring Squad," convinced their shy brother cannot handle a woman alone.

The Chishibuki market lives up to its name, a grimy place filled with weapon dealers. Shinzo trembles, his eyes darting, his anxiety misinterpreted by thugs as a murderous aura. Kengo watches through binoculars, recognizing his brother's struggle to breathe. Nanao, trying to help, releases a "relaxing" gas, but it backfires, sending Shinzo into a manic, energetic rant about weapon specs.

Shinzo rants technically to Ayaka, boring everyone. Taiyo takes aim with a tranquilizer gun, silencing his brother mid-sentence with an electric jolt. Before the onlookers can react, Ayaka swiftly dispatches a group of thugs who try to pick a fight, her needles flashing. Later, at a store, Ayaka tries on a tactical outfit, asking Shinzo for his opinion, but he comments only on the fabric and mobility, much to the exasperation of Taiyo and Kengo.

The market grows crowded. Shinzo, worried about losing Ayaka, lifts her onto his shoulders in a "princess carry." The spying siblings are shocked; Ayaka blushes but is pleased. Later, at a cafe, a massive sundae arrives. Shinzo is confused, but Ayaka is touched by the supposed gesture. Taiyo spots Kengo nearby, realizing he engineered the romantic moment.

Ayaka tells Shinzo she admires his devotion to Taiyo and Mutsumi, explaining this family bond is why she joined them. The intimate moment is shattered when Shinzo appears behind the spying siblings. He scolds them for following, then produces a terrifying mechanical tool for their punishment. Ayaka watches, giggling at the chaotic, loving family dynamic.

There, a woman with long white hair and cherry blossoms covering her eyes, Tsubomi Yozakura, stands before him in a white kimono.

Tsubomi, the first head of the Yozakura family, cradles Taiyo's head, praising his efforts. She explains the 'Hazakura' reaction formed a bridge between their minds, creating this dream space. Then, she delivers a shocking request: "Please kill me." She states her existence prevents the family from true freedom. To fulfill this, Taiyo must find the "Tsubomi Notebook" and understand her history. He must also contact Kawashita, who knows her current state, currently held by the Spy Association. To reach Kawashita, Taiyo needs a Silver Rank spy license. Her form fades into petals, leaving Taiyo with an impossible task.

Taiyo wakes abruptly, gasping. He dismisses it as a fever dream, until he sees a single, real cherry blossom petal on his palm. The encounter was real. He then makes his way to a hidden library within the mansion, finding an ancient, black book with the Yozakura crest. The book opens only to his Yozakura ring and blood, revealing seemingly blank pages.

Taiyo gathers his siblings and Mutsumi, announcing his intention to take the Silver Rank spy exam. They are surprised but don't question his private motivations. Mutsumi worries, but his siblings offer support, warning him of the difficulty. On Shion's laptop, they see the Spy Association's cryptic website; the exam is in 16 days. Shion explains the proctors are always Gold Rank spies, leading to near-zero passing rates.

The exam day arrives. Taiyo follows cryptic directions to a mundane laundromat, spotting other suspicious figures. A high-energy girl named Usa, a reporter for 'Spy Day', immediately questions him about the Yozakura family. She reveals she is also taking the exam for gossip. Her boss drags her away, giving Taiyo a moment of relief before he enters the testing area. There, in a massive underground hall, Taiyo sees hundreds of applicants, and then, inexplicably, a nervous Shinzo behind a metal door.
