I am really starting to think this dragon hunt is a total setup, because that mission giver looked way too annoyed with them being there. Riad and Shade definitely did something to get the group on the bad side of the higher ups. At least Kyoda and Kai are taking it seriously with the new mech bullets and battle gear.

The Albatross is a cool ship, but that theory about this mission being a way to get the team out of the city actually makes a lot of sense

Takiri reading about the history of crimes just to calm his nerves before they head out to fight a dragon is the kind of character choice that makes me love this show

Kyoda is always ready for smoke and the fact that he just stays in his gear while everyone else is stressing out makes him stand out so much

Ekke getting that natural 20 and just vanishing during the whole briefing was hilarious and the way he fixed that door later was such a flex

Ekke using lesser reversal on a door might seem small but those tiny details make the magic system feel grounded before they go hunt a dragon

I think rolling a natural 20 changed the whole energy of the table and it makes the dragon mission feel way more winnable now

It is interesting how they balanced the actual D&D mechanics with the airship travel this time around, and the Albatross is easily one of the coolest designs, as the buoyancy gems explain the flight physics without being too boring while watching them prep for the copper dragon fight with friendship and big guns was just pure fun and felt totally right

A copper dragon attacking trade routes is a classic setup and it feels like the stakes are finally getting real for the Rentek Riders

The veil lore in Alyssia finally started to click for me during the airship segment

Strategy for the copper dragon was hilarious once the group leaned into the big guns theme, especially with the shogun just waiting to blast something

I was worried about the pacing but Ekke fixing that warped door with lesser reversal was such a cool way to show off magic mechanics in this world

Kyoda is already ready to go while everyone else is still figuring it out and that shogun energy is exactly what this dragon hunt needs

Buoyancy gems making the Albatross fly is such a neat piece of lore and I want to see more of how this airship handles a dragon fight

That natural 20 roll during the mission setup felt like a gift from the dice gods because the copper dragon threat is no joke

The Albatross is a massive ship and seeing them load up those mechs for the dragon hunt really makes the whole world feel huge and grounded

Commander Marish looks so miserable behind that desk and I felt bad for him having to deal with the school donors instead of leading a squad

The fact that those Renek mechs only have one charge before they are useless adds so much tension to this dragon fight and you can tell the party is stressed

Watching EK use lesser reversal to fix that broken door was actually such a cool way to show off his magic and it makes you wonder what else he can reconstruct

I thought it was hilarious how Kyoda was basically sleepwalking through that meeting and he still managed to look more prepared for battle than anyone else in the room

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting exactly at the halfway point of a compact six-episode run, Episode 3 marks the transition from setup to consequence. Episodes 1 and 2 established Honami and Seika's circumstances and initial choices; this episode begins to bear the emotional weight of those decisions. What unfolds here directly shapes the back half of the series, making it a pivotal chapter rather than a transitional one.
