His concentration is shattered by a desperate plea from the adjacent stall: a man in dire need of toilet paper. Discovering his own stall empty, Mustang's sense of duty or perhaps panic overrides all else; he sacrifices his top-secret message, sliding it under the partition. The sound of a flushing toilet and Mustang's slumped form confirm the utter defeat of the Flame Alchemist.

The chimeras Darius and Heinkel are seen in a surprisingly human discussion about their transformed physiologies. Darius, the gorilla chimera, fixates on Heinkel's hands, specifically the lack of paw pads. He denounces Heinkel as a "half-assed chimera" for this perceived deficiency, revealing an unexpected, almost obsessive, aspect of his character. The argument escalates quickly, culminating in a sharp, physical rebuke from Darius.

Alphonse's disembodied head weeps on the floor, pleading for rescue from the chimeras' "improvements."
