Stark meets him head-on, his axe a valiant but outmatched defense against the demon's rapid, overwhelming attacks. The initial clash establishes the demon's terrifying speed and strength, immediately putting Stark on the back foot, struggling to keep pace.

Gennau finds himself besieged by projectiles, forced to curl defensively, his wings absorbing the brunt of the onslaught. Stark, caught in Revolte's relentless flurry, is sent tumbling, sparks flying as his weapon struggles against the demon's power. Gennau observes Stark's losing battle, noting the demon’s impossible reflexes and stamina. Stark is finally slammed into a wall, clearly outmatched and physically broken.

Gennau briefly considers retreat, then dismisses it, as the demon is too swift. Stark, bruised and defeated, acknowledges Frieren’s prior warnings about powerful demons, realizing he cannot read Revolte's movements. With a grim resolve, he makes a desperate, intentional choice: he lunges, allowing Revolte to strike him, creating a fleeting opening. Gennau, seizing this moment, kicks Revolte into the windmill, allowing Stark to strike a crucial blow from behind.

With Revolte temporarily subdued, Gennau offers Stark a rare compliment for his cunning. Revolte, now defeated, begins to taunt Gennau, recalling a similar past encounter where Gennau's previous partner fell. He speaks of Gennau's glory-seeking while his partner died, a cruel manipulation. The demon then reveals a supposed child survivor, a deceptive illusion created by Yurie, who then strikes Gennau from behind with a blood-stained blade.

Gennau clenches a bloody fist, regretting his clouded judgment; he knew there couldn't have been a child. Revolte, even in defeat, offers a cynical assessment of humanity, predicting that humans will always protect their young. Gennau counters this, suggesting true kindness is rare and he has not met many willing to die for strangers. A flashback to Frieren at a funeral, reflecting that "kind mages always lead the shortest lives," underscores the harsh truth of their world. Frieren then dismisses Gennau as an "unpleasant man," lacking kindness, but tells him never to change.

Revolte unexpectedly retaliates, launching brittle blades at Gennau. Stark quickly advises Gennau to shatter the remaining weapons. From a distant hill, Fern shifts her magical attack pattern, her focused spells overwhelming Revolte. Gennau, absorbing the magic from a shard, declares "Magic is incredibly fun," before delivering a blow. Stark disarms Revolte completely, shattering his final weapon. With a manic grin, Gennau declares his species' tenacity, but it is Stark who ultimately severs Revolte's arm, ending the fight with brutal finality. Gennau utters "Frieren..." as he falls, seemingly dead.

Stark, exhausted and covered in blood, tends to Gennau's seemingly lifeless body amidst the destroyed village. The scene shifts, showing the village rebuilt and vibrant, the windmill turning under a bright sky. In a series of brief vignettes, Gennau is seen fishing, then being playfully teased by Frieren while eating. Frieren and Fern sleep peacefully, underscoring the return to normalcy. Stark is later shown doing push-ups, vigorously recovering from his injuries, ready to face new challenges.

Fern, ever practical, notes the party lacks a priest. Gennau, surprisingly, offers his services, citing the dangers of the Northern Plateau. Frieren declines with a mischievous smile, mentioning her own lesser healing spells and their proven strategy of running. She adds, with a sly wink, that they want to "keep our priest slot open for a while," teasing Gennau. Fern's annoyance and Gennau's playful flirtation underscore the burgeoning camaraderie, before Gennau departs with a friendly "Till next we meet."
