I was mostly just waiting for her to catch up to him because the size difference is just wild

That hat and the white dress look so classic and the way she just ignores the salt barrier was a cool way to show how powerful she is

Seeing a giant lady in a straw hat tower over everything is such a specific vibe and they really nailed the scale during the bedroom scene

The sound design with that weird popping noise every time she gets close makes the atmosphere way more intense than it has any right to be

I think the Hachishaku-sama design is actually pretty creepy at first and her height makes the whole encounter feel so different from usual stuff like this

Seeing a ghost girl get flustered after spending decades haunting a well is the kind of character development that only this specific series could pull off so well

The pacing was a bit fast during the actual encounter, but the build up with the cursed tape felt like a legitimate horror movie for a few minutes.

I was expecting this to be just another generic supernatural thing, but the art style they used for Sadako's hair and the way she glitches out of the television really caught me off guard. It is actually a pretty unique take on the urban legend because she seems more like a shy girl trapped in a screen than a monster.

It is wild how they took one of the scariest figures in japanese horror and turned her into someone who just needs some physical attention and a friend

That scene in the well was surprisingly moody for this kind of show and the way the colors shifted when things got intimate looked really nice

Most people would run away when a girl with long black hair starts glitching through their electronics but the main guy just leaned into it and I respect that

My brain was not ready for the twist on the traditional horror tropes because the way she crawled out of the tv was actually kind of cute

The animation for the hair coming out of the screen looked better than most big budget shows and seeing her transform from a ghost into that was something else

Getting cursed by a video tape usually ends a lot worse but this version of the ring legend makes me want to find a vhs player immediately

I never thought I would actually feel bad for Sadako but seeing her alone in that well changed everything and the guy just wanting to stay with her was sweet

That fight with the Dragger really showed how different this show is from other battle series because Mob just wins by being a total dork who doesn't watch scary movies. It makes so much sense that these spirits get stronger when people are afraid of them but Mob is just sitting there looking bored while everyone else is panicking over a legend.

Dash Granny beating Mob in a footrace is the funniest thing that has happened this season so far and seeing him actually look traumatized by an old lady is gold

The Street Fighter parody with Shinra was such a weird surprise, and I think it fits the show's style perfectly even if the guy is kind of a loser.

Mob being totally clueless about the Dragger was the best part because she could not even scare him since he has no idea what pop culture even is

I really loved seeing Reigen try to trick people with those urban legends and it was so funny when that scary dog just turned out to have marker on its face

EPISODE CONTEXT

With Episode 1 establishing the anthology's urban legend framework, Episode 2 introduces the 'cursed DVD' myth as a standalone horror scenario, deepening the series' commitment to reimagining supernatural folklore through an explicit lens. This episode functions as an early anchor for the anthology's tone, signaling to viewers that each installment will take a recognizable cultural fear and reinterpret it provocatively. It sets a structural template that the remaining four episodes are positioned to follow and expand upon.
