Kouichi being so stubborn about going with Caius even though he was sick was just kind of sweet because he did not want to be apart from him

My stomach dropped when Baro took off with Kouichi while Caius was distracted by Bery and it made me so nervous for the rest of the episode

The tension when Baro realized Kouichi was in heat was insane, and it made the rescue feel much more desperate than it usually does in these episodes

I definitely felt for Kouichi when he was stuck with Baro and then Caius just came out of nowhere to save him

Caius was so fast to go find that fruit for Kouichi and it shows how much he truly cares about his bride now

Baro really waited for the worst possible moment to strike and now Kouichi is alone in the middle of a heat cycle and Caius looks like he is going to explode

That cliffhanger with the kidnapping was brutal and the timing of Kouichi going into heat makes the whole situation way more dangerous for him in that beast country

Watching Kouichi deal with that sudden illness was rough, but seeing him hold onto Caius despite being so weak really highlights how much their bond has shifted since the start of the show.

My heart dropped when Baro grabbed Kouichi because he is already suffering from that heat stuff and Caius was too far away to stop it

Caius is such a protective giant and seeing him panic when Kouichi got sick was a nice change of pace from his usual self before everything went south with the beastmen

The introduction of the country of beasts was cool but the kidnapping felt a bit fast and seeing more of the actual world before the drama kicked in would have been better

The way Caius looked so desperate when Kouichi collapsed from that fever had me feeling things and then the kidnapping happened right as things were getting intense

I can't believe Baro just snatched Kouichi while Caius was busy fighting off those beastmen and the cliffhanger with the heat starting is actually stressful

Kouichi insisted on going along even while he was sick and that shows he actually cares about Caius now but that beastman Baro better not touch him while he is in heat
mumen_rider's avatar

I am so stressed out after that ending, because Kouichi is clearly in pain from that weird heat thing and now he is in the hands of that beastman Baro. Seeing Caius try so hard to protect him while they were searching for the fruit was sweet, but the way he got distracted by Bery was a total disaster.

Watching Caius carry Koichi through the new country was actually really cute, and seeing the beastmen society was interesting even if they seem a lot more normal than the legends suggested.

It was huge for me to see the vulnerable side of Koichi while he was sick because he is usually just annoyed all the time

You can tell the plot is just an excuse for the explicit scenes especially with that ridiculous fruit cure but at least the backstory about Koichi and his dad added some depth

The way Caius looks after Koichi in the beast country is sweet even with the weird fruit poison situation and seeing a whole city of beastmen was an interesting change

I could not help but feel for Koichi when he started panicking because of the fever and he was so desperate for Caius to stay by his side instead of leaving

EPISODE CONTEXT

Landing at the series' midpoint, this episode follows the interpersonal turbulence of 'After the Feast' and redirects that emotional energy outward into a quest-driven storyline. The shift to Fobal broadens the world considerably, establishing the interspecies tensions and external dangers that will carry weight into the next episode, 'Trading Style.' At episode five of nine, the series is building toward its endgame, and this entry functions as a critical bridge between the intimate early chapters and the higher-stakes confrontations ahead.
