My brain still cannot process Caius asking a dude to bear his children five minutes after kidnapping him from earth

Six minutes is way too short for an episode, but seeing a basketball player get summoned just to be a giants bride is definitely the weirdest start to a fantasy show

The way the giant prince just towers over Kouichi is actually wild and it makes the whole bride announcement even more ridiculous

I was not prepared for the size gap between Kouichi and the prince because seeing them next to each other in that bedroom made me laugh so hard

Caius really just dragged this poor kid from his basketball game and told him he is going to be a mother and it was so chaotic
sailor_neptune's avatar

Caius behaves like a predator and it is hard to get into a romance when the first thing the guy does is assault his supposed bride

Reading the manga is probably a better idea. This version cuts out everything except the smut and makes the prince look like a total brute

Getting transported to another world just to be told you have to have a giant kings babies is a crazy way to end a basketball career

Watching the censored version makes no sense. You are just getting five minutes of confusing cuts and weird transitions that ruin the flow

The sheer size gap between Kouichi and the titan is the only reason to watch this. Seeing him look like a doll in those giant hands was wild

I was definitely taken aback by how forceful Caius was right from the start and it made for a really uncomfortable first impression of him as a character. The show is basically just smut with a tiny bit of fantasy plot and the short runtime makes everything feel so rushed and chaotic. I might check out the manga to see if he gets better

I actually liked the english dub for this, it felt way more natural than I thought it would during the intense parts

I did not expect the height difference to be that extreme and the way Caius just claimed him was actually kind of intense even if it was super fast
professor_rowan_331's avatar

The prince really just summoned a guy and forced himself on him right away and it makes the character feel irredeemable immediately

Six minutes is way too short for an episode. It feels like they skipped all the actual character setup to get straight to the bed scene

Caius telling a kid he has to bear his children after kidnapping him is the absolute worst start and it makes it impossible to like the prince at all
xiangliyaos's avatar

I think the one month agreement is a decent way to fix the mess Caius made at the start, because seeing Kouichi so terrified while he was being pinned down was really hard to watch. It is way better than most older stories where the lead just gives in immediately and I appreciate that the king apologized for his behavior
violet_evergarden_168's avatar
violet_evergarden_168
Watching the huge size difference between the king and Kouichi is definitely a choice and it makes the whole summoning feel even more overwhelming for the human

The way Caius just snatches a teenager from his world and tries to force him into bed right away is disgusting and no amount of magic circles makes that okay
mewtwo_304's avatar
mewtwo_304
if you watch the edited version, the whole thing feels like it lasts two minutes and the story makes zero sense without the context of the actual connection between them in the bedroom.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As Episode 1 of 9, 'Bride Summons' carries the full weight of establishing the series' premise, characters, and tone with no prior groundwork to lean on. Everything — the world of Tildant, the titan-human dynamic, and the charged tension between Kouichi and Prince Caius — is introduced here from scratch. The next episode, 'Tragedy Prince,' builds directly on this foundation by exploring the backstory and motivations behind Caius's actions, making this opener essential viewing.
