He is visibly surprised, perhaps even a little unnerved, by her presence. Her wide, sparkling eyes suggest an intense curiosity, but Sora's expression is one of bewilderment.

Back at school, Sora's friend relentlessly teases him about "a girl" he might be interested in, observing his unusual thoughtfulness. Sora, exasperated, describes her as "probably older," someone he sees "sometimes after school," and "a little strange," with intense eye contact. He ends his brief description abruptly, leaving his friend unsatisfied but plotting. Sora clearly wishes to escape the romantic speculation.

Escaping his friend's nosiness, Sora heads to a vending machine for another mint chocolate chip ice cream. As he unwraps it, he finds Suzume on the bridge once more, still in her maid uniform. Her direct gaze makes him uncomfortable, and he openly questions, mostly to himself, why she is dressed like that, wondering if her blue eyes are even real. Suzume, realizing she has been caught staring, blushes and looks away.

Sora suggests Suzume stop staring if there is no meaning to it, which she quickly, perhaps too quickly, agrees to. Then, with startling speed, Suzume snatches the ice cream stick from Sora's hand, licking the melted residue clean. She declares his clothes are safe, her movements precise and maid-like despite the bizarre action. Sora is utterly dumbfounded, drenched in sweat, managing only a bewildered affirmative.

As Sora walks away, still reeling, he wonders if he will ever interact with Suzume again. But her voice calls him back. After a moment of hesitation, her eyes sparkling with determination, Suzume points to the ice cream. She asks Sora where she can buy the same treat, her true motivation finally revealed.
